Future plans

After a successful 2024 for Regenagri, it’s time to look ahead.

Together we can transition to an agricultural system that is more resilient in the face of climate change.

A major priority, for the coming year and beyond, is to continue to strengthen the programme in terms of its rigour, by introducing further due diligence processes and continually improving data assurance.

By assuring our clients of our robust standards and processes, we can better support regenerative agriculture’s continued momentum, helping a growing number of farmers and supply chains to transition to a system that is more resilient in the face of climate change.

On top of this, to reduce unnecessary auditing fatigue, we will improve the efficiency of the processes through which farm and supply chain company data is collected and verified by certification bodies.

Here we share our future plans in more detail.

2025 and beyond

Monitoring certification activities: an additional layer of rigour
In 2025 we will start the process for third-party accreditation of the Regenagri certification. This means that third-party accreditation bodies will be monitoring the certification bodies’ activities to ensure that the Regenagri certification system requirements are fulfilled.
Carbon insetting programme
We will continue to develop our newly launched carbon insetting programme; working to increase participation while providing ever more robust systems to monitor and verify the transactions between supply chain operators within the programme.

This will be supported by an online insetting platform that allows farms and supply chain operators to transfer carbon insetting units in strict compliance with programme requirements
Digital tools
In addition to the launch of the Regenagri carbon insetting platform, we will further develop our farms assessment platform. We’re also planning to start work on an updated website that will better fulfil the needs of users, both those who are already programme partners, and those seeking to join.
Partnerships
We realise there is great potential to secure the future of regenerative agriculture in creating strong collaborative relationships with other leaders within the sector. With this in mind, in 2025 we plan to increase our focus on stakeholder partnerships, including farmers, retailers and brands, as well as other regenerative standard organisations.

Our goal is to expand the adoption of regenerative agriculture and raise consumer awareness while creating more demand for regeneratively certified products.

Through collaborating with other regenerative farming standard agencies we hope to increase the rigour of regenerative programmes on a global scale.
Standard development and sector growth
We will continue to update our standards, both for farms and supply chains, to reflect the ever-evolving landscape of partner needs and environmental challenges. We plan to expand our current standards to accommodate commodities that need their own dedicated set of requirements, such as tea and sugarcane.

We want to maintain the momentum we’ve gained in Regenagri-certified coffee uptake over the last few years, building on the 90,747 certified hectares in Brazil thanks to our partnership with illycaffè, moving into new regions and working with other coffee brands.

In textiles, and specifically cotton, where Regenagri leads the market in regenerative agriculture certification, we want to keep growing to support more brands.

We will leverage successful partnerships to expand into additional sectors, such as tea, wool, palm, viticulture, rubber and rice.  We expect to welcome brands from all these sectors to join Regenagri in the coming year.
Our team
The 2025 budget includes the expansion of the team to support our goals related to integrity and programme’s adoption. We plan to hire additional team members to work on brand engagement, partnerships and data assurance.
Customer service
We will continue to improve the service we offer our partners. We want to ensure that we’re delivering the best possible experience, responding quickly to questions and building solid, long-lasting relationships.

This will include inviting our partners to regional workshops to give them the opportunity to get to know Regenagri better and share their feedback. It also means a refreshed website with improved user experience, which will incorporate a new in-depth section responding to frequently asked questions about our programme.

Since Regenagri was established in 2020 it has grown from strength to strength. All the while, we have learned so much about the many intricacies of regenerative farming and how to best develop robust standards; adapting the programme to specific contexts, using more effective approaches for impact data verification, implementing better procedures and much more.

We look forward to continuing this journey alongside our many partners and collaborators, many of whom are on their own regenerative journeys, improving together as we learn.
